PDF and JPG store pages differently
A PDF can contain vector text and shapes that stay sharp at many zoom levels. JPG is a raster image with a fixed pixel grid, so conversion requires choosing a rendering resolution.
Higher resolution produces sharper images but also larger files and higher memory use during conversion.
Match resolution to the destination
For messaging, slide decks and ordinary screen viewing, an extremely high render scale is rarely necessary. For print or detailed diagrams, more pixels may be useful.
If the source page contains small text, inspect that text in the JPG rather than judging only by photographs or large headings.
JPG is not a document-preserving format
Links, selectable text, forms, bookmarks and document metadata do not survive as interactive PDF features in a JPG image. The conversion is best understood as a visual export of the page.
Keep the original PDF whenever the document's structure or accessibility matters.
Calculate the output pixels that Pageivo actually uses
Pageivo’s converter currently has a fixed render scale of 2 and JPEG quality parameter 0.9. There is no resolution selector. A PDF page measuring 612 × 792 PDF points (standard US Letter) becomes 1224 × 1584 pixels when unrotated; a standard A4 page near 595.28 × 841.89 points becomes 1191 × 1684 pixels because dimensions are rounded upward.
For ordinary PDF pages with the standard unit size, scale 2 corresponds to about 144 pixels per inch at the original physical page size. It is not 300 dpi print output. Unusual PDF UserUnit values, rotation or page dimensions can change the actual viewport, so inspect the downloaded image dimensions.

Quality parameters are not fidelity guarantees
The value 0.9 controls JPEG encoding; it is not a 90% accuracy score. Browsers can produce different byte sizes. One-page PDFs download as a JPG, while multi-page PDFs download as a ZIP.
- Run PDF to JPG on a non-sensitive page or the Lab conversion source.
- Open the JPG’s image properties to check width and height.
- View small text at normal display size, then zoom for defects.
- Keep the PDF if text search, links or accessibility features matter.
