How to Extract Selected Pages From a PDF

Create a smaller PDF containing only the pages a recipient actually needs.

Extracting is different from deleting

Extraction creates a new document from selected pages while leaving the source intact. Deletion creates a new copy containing everything except the pages you specify.

When you only need three pages from a 100-page report, extraction is usually the clearer workflow because you define exactly what should be included.

Use precise page selections

Individual pages and ranges can be combined, for example 2,5-8,14. The resulting document can follow the entered order, so the selection itself can also rearrange pages if needed.

Review sensitive source documents carefully. Extracting only relevant pages can reduce unnecessary disclosure, but information elsewhere on an included page can still be visible.

Check document context

A selected page may refer to definitions, headings or signatures elsewhere in the source. Include enough context for the recipient to understand what the extracted section represents.

For official records, confirm whether the receiving organization accepts excerpts or requires the complete original document.
