How to Extract Selected Pages From a PDF

Create one PDF from the pages you choose

Extract PDF Pages is useful when a recipient needs one form or a few report pages instead of the whole document. Pageivo copies your selection into one new PDF. The original stays unchanged, and the other pages are not included in the result.

This guide's Lab example selects 2,5-7,10 from a ten-page workbook. The result contains five pages in the order 2, 5, 6, 7, 10. The tool also has an existing quick demo using 1,4-6,10; both examples use the same page-selection rules.

Use physical page positions

Count the first page of the PDF as page 1, including a cover or contents page. Printed numbers can restart in an appendix or use Roman numerals. The extraction field uses physical positions rather than those printed labels.

Open the source first and find the pages you need. Write down their positions before loading the file. This avoids sending a neighbouring page that contains unrelated or private information.

Download numbered-10.pdf from the example below, then open Extract PDF Pages. The sample documents are deliberately labelled, so no private file is needed to practice.

1. Use Select file to add numbered-10.pdf.
2. Enter 2,5-7,10 in Pages to extract.
3. Choose Extract PDF Pages, then Download.
4. Open the new PDF and confirm that it has five pages with original labels 2, 5, 6, 7 and 10.

Control the order and repeated pages

Pageivo follows the sequence you enter. It does not sort the numbers or remove duplicates. Ranges must run forwards; to reverse pages, list their individual numbers.

Troubleshoot the selection

Use ordinary numbers, hyphens and commas. Entries such as 'page 2', 'all', zero or a number beyond the source page count are invalid. Keep the selection easy to review by avoiding empty groups and unnecessary commas.

If the new file has more pages than expected, look for overlapping ranges or repeated numbers. If the order is wrong, correct the field and select the source again before creating another result. Pageivo does not infer chapter boundaries or choose pages based on their visible text.

Review what you are about to share

Inspect every page in the extracted copy, not just its page count. A page can include notes, names, headers or other details that are irrelevant to the recipient. Extraction does not redact text inside a selected page.

The operation copies page content rather than deliberately flattening the pages into images. Nevertheless, interactive forms, bookmarks, attachments and digital signatures need separate checks. For important documents, compare the downloaded result against the original in the reader the recipient will use.

Keep the original privately. Use a neutral, descriptive filename for the extract, and check that your email or upload selection points to the smaller file rather than the full source.
