How to Remove Blank Pages From a PDF

Identify blank pages in a PDF reader first

Pageivo removes the page positions you enter. It does not automatically detect blank pages and it does not show page thumbnails for you to select. First open the original in a PDF reader, inspect the candidate pages and write down their positions.

Use the reader's position in the file, counting the first page as 1. Printed page labels can differ: a cover and contents page may come before printed page 1. Zoom in before deleting a nearly blank page; a faint signature, a footnote or a deliberately retained separator may matter.

Practice the page selection on a numbered sample

The public Lab sample has ten numbered pages. These pages are deliberately not blank: the labels make it possible to verify which positions were removed. It is a selection exercise, not a demonstration of automatic blank-page detection.

Remove positions 2, 4 and 5 by entering 2, 4-5. The expected seven pages are labelled 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. The printed labels stay unchanged even though their positions in the new file change.

Remove the confirmed blanks

1. Open Delete PDF Pages and select your PDF, or choose Try a sample for the numbered practice file.
2. Enter the positions in Pages to remove. Separate positions or ranges with commas, such as 2, 4-5.
3. Choose Delete PDF Pages and download the new file when it is ready.
4. Open the download and check the page count against source pages minus removed pages.
5. Review both sides of each deletion boundary and the first and last page. Keep the original until the cleaned copy has been accepted.

Know the difference between deleting and extracting

Enter the pages you want to discard in Delete PDF Pages. If you instead know the few pages you want to keep, Extract PDF Pages is usually less error-prone. In a 100-page document where only pages 40-45 are needed, selecting those six pages is simpler than listing everything else for deletion.

Removing pages does not renumber labels printed on the remaining pages. A new sequence of visible page numbers requires a separate numbering operation, which may be inappropriate for an existing signed or formally paginated record.

Check forms and signed documents separately

Pageivo copies the remaining pages into a new PDF. It does not deliberately rasterize them, but document-level features such as bookmarks, attachments, interactive forms and digital signatures need separate verification.

The result must contain at least one page. If every page is selected for deletion, revise the selection. If the source is protected or cannot be opened, use an authorized accessible copy rather than assuming a deletion tool can unlock or repair it.
