Individual pages
A comma-separated list such as 1,4,9 selects those individual PDF positions. The numbers normally refer to the viewer's page positions, not a printed page number inside the document.
Check whether a cover sheet causes the printed number and PDF position to differ.
Inclusive ranges
A hyphen represents an inclusive range. The expression 3-6 means pages 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Ranges can be mixed with individual pages, for example 1,3-6,10. Keep the expression simple enough to audit visually before running the operation.
Order can be meaningful
In extraction and reordering workflows, a sequence such as 5,1-3 can create an output beginning with page 5 followed by pages 1, 2 and 3. Repeating a number may duplicate that page if the tool permits it.
For deletion workflows, the order is generally irrelevant because the listed pages are removed rather than copied into a new sequence.
The same entry has different meanings in different tools
Use physical PDF positions, counting the first page as 1. For a ten-page source, 2,5-7,10 names five positions: 2, 5, 6, 7 and 10. Pageivo accepts whole decimal page numbers, ascending ranges, commas and whitespace; it does not accept page names, decimal fractions or reversed ranges.
Split PDF treats each comma-separated group as a separate output file. Extract and Reorder join the positions into one output in the entered order. Delete removes those positions and keeps the remaining pages in source order.

Duplicates and blanks need deliberate handling
Extract and Reorder preserve repeated selections, so 2,2 produces two copies of page 2. Repeating a number in Delete still removes that source page only once. Only Split uses a completely blank field to mean one PDF per page; other selection tools require input.
- Count source positions in a reader before typing.
- Choose the operation whose meaning matches your goal.
- For a reverse order enter 3,2,1 rather than 3-1.
