How to Split a PDF by Page Range

Plan one range for each output file

Splitting takes one source PDF and creates separate PDF files. In Pageivo, every comma-separated group becomes a separate file inside a ZIP archive. For example, 1-3, 4-6, 7-10 creates three files with three, three and four pages.

The numbers count from the first physical page in the PDF. A cover is page 1 even if it has no printed page number. A page labelled '1' inside the document may therefore have a different position in the PDF.

Split the ten-page workbook

The public sample prints its original page number prominently on every page, so you can check every output without using your own paperwork.

1. Open Split PDF and choose Try a sample. It loads numbered-10.pdf and the ranges 1-3, 4-6, 7-10.
2. Check the ranges in Split ranges (optional), then choose Split PDF.
3. Download pageivo-split-pdf.zip and open it using your device's archive tool.
4. Open all three PDFs. Confirm that part 1 contains 1-3, part 2 contains 4-6 and part 3 contains 7-10.

Understand commas, ranges and blank input

A hyphen groups consecutive page numbers. A comma starts a new output group in Split PDF. Leaving the field empty creates one PDF per source page; it does not return an unchanged copy.

Check for omitted and overlapping pages

If you need to divide the complete document without losing anything, account for every source page exactly once. In the sample, 3 + 3 + 4 = 10 and the ranges meet at the intended section boundaries.

Pageivo permits overlapping groups. For example, 1-3, 3-5 includes original page 3 in both output files. That can be intentional when two recipients need the same cover sheet, but it can also be a typo. Pages outside the supplied groups do not appear in the ZIP.

Fix an unexpected result

Prepare the separate files for delivery

Rename the extracted parts by purpose, such as report.pdf and appendix.pdf, before sending them. Open each final file after renaming to avoid swapping two similar-looking sections.

Only send the sections the recipient needs. Keep the complete original so you can create a different selection later. Deleting a downloaded split file does not delete its pages from the original PDF.
